Comments

Travel verse for children in a series of charming original poems that depict scenes and describe "sea-subjects" along the southern coast of England, where the author resided. The poems are sequential, beginning with the journey, and the cast of characters is listed: Papa, Mamma, the children and Diver the Dog. The smallest child, Jane, features in a poem called “Bathing”: “Indeed I cannot bathe - not I! / I do so scream and cry. / Oh, force me not, my dear mamma. . . .”.
