CommentsThe 104 sketches and essays that first appeared between April 15, 1758 and April 5, 1760 in the weekly newspaper Universal Chronicle; all but 12 were written by Samuel Johnson. The other contributors included Joshua Reynolds and Thomas Warton. Neat small ink signature of E. H. Greenly dated 1829 on each title-page; and with his bookplate on the front paste-downs.
